At Shirebrook Academy and within ACET, we believe that wearing a uniform is important for the following reasons. It:

• promotes a sense of pride in the academy
• engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the academy
• is practical and smart
• identifies the students within the academy
• prevents students from coming to the academy in fashion clothes that could be distracting / expensive
• makes students feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
• is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money 
• is promoted with health and safety and safeguarding in mind

If you are updating any uniform items and feel in a position to donate any pre-loved pieces which are in good condition, items such as blazers, ties, winter coats or items of PE kit, then we would be very grateful to receive them. If you could drop them off at reception, we will ensure that any students who require items of uniform are given them. If you require any of these items, please ask a member of the academy leadership or Year Teams. We are only too happy to help.
