PD Day

Shirebrook Academy held its 2nd Personal Development Day of the year last week. With themes ranging
from Post 16 and careers, healthy lifestyles and choices, STEM and British Values. The day was
complimented by external providers as well as internal delivery to support the engagement and knowledge
gained by students from Y7 to Y11.
Visitors included; Hyett Education offering a Robotics and Coding workshop, United Cast Bar talking about
Apprenticeship offers in STEM industries, School Nurses Hayley & Ali discussing contraception, members of
Derbyshire Constabulary, PC Claire & PCSO Beckie delivering a presentation on Stalking and Harassment,
David & Hannah from SV2 offering workshops on Consent, DWP Support For Schools Adviser supporting
Y11 Students with their applications, West Notts College colleagues Bethany and Emma advising on T-
Levels, Megan and Lisa from Derbyshire Sexual Health working with the students to understand sexual
health, Louisa Freeman our Road Safety Officer from DCC, Holly from Kooth delivering a TEAMs information
session, Alonzo from Ask!! Apprenticeships supporting with registrations and Nottingham Trent University
staff and ambassadors delivering sessions on university life. Thank you for your support!!!
Students said they really enjoyed the day and gained a lot from the experience!!
